Ember Hugs

Armond Richards

I remember ember hugs that spark these lasting fires
Pleasing scenes of kings and queens, embracing and inspired,
As the sun sits on the sea to watch his fading lights
That golden hue the lovers knew could make their souls ignite

Sadder still is wilting while the hearts around you flower
Every minute counts a month and every day an hour
And the moon sits on her throne to watch our beauty age
The dreamer dies while improvising smiles to light the stage

I recall the falling angels praying for redemption
They whisper how the sins of now could never hope to tempt them
They recall their almost loves that never seemed to start
And soon remember ember hugs and know the burning heart
